Two molds were made for this series of work. The first was inspired by the Turner Bubble Mirrors of the 1960s. Using a clear acrylic for the bubble lens in order to see through to a mirror, adds another dimension to the way they reflect images and light. “Gear Candy” plays on the contrast of the shape of an industrial gear, and candy-like colour and sheen of the plastic. “Gear Deep” also utilizes a clear lens and mirror, and “Vex-8 Crackle” shows cracking of the mirror film, revealing the clear acrylic below.
